Chapter 7: Alcohols, Phenols, and Ethers
Alcohols are formed when a hydrogen atom in an aliphatic hydrocarbon is replaced by an OH group and Phenols are formed when a hydrogen atom in an aromatic hydrocarbon is replaced by an OH group while Ethers are formed by the substitution of an H-atom in a hydrocarbon by an alkoxy(R-O).
