Science is one of the most important and foundational subjects, especially for those students who want to pursue physical science and/or biological sciences for their senior secondary education and even higher education. In the science paper, students are always tested on their knowledge of the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology. In this exam, a student is given the opportunity to apply their understanding of concepts in applications of various types and thereby break the wall of just rote memorisation. Achieving a good score becomes easier for students if they have their concepts clear on all topics from the NCERT textbook. In this article, students will find the science exam overview, question papers with solutions, question paper analysis, previous year's question papers, and preparation tips alongside any further updates regarding the exam and release of results.
The following table presents a quick overview of the CBSE Class 10 Science Exam for 2026.

The paper was well structured and strictly followed the latest pattern of competency based on the CBSE. It emphasises conceptual understanding, analytical thinking and application-based learning as against rote learning.
The difficulty level of the Biology section was moderate and quite scoring. This section is concept-based and tests knowledge of topics like heredity, evolution, human physiology, and plant tropisms. Most of the questions are application-based in assertion-reason and case-study format, which tests analytical thinking and not rote memorisation. Good NCERT preparation can help students score well.
The difficulty level of the Chemistry section was easy to moderate and highly scoring. This section is well-balanced between theory and practice. Major topics include acids, bases and salts; carbon compounds; metals and non-metals; and chemical reactions. Questions are mostly from organic chemistry and life applications. The section is totally NCERT-orientated and scoreable.
The difficulty level of the Physics section was moderate to high and moderately scoring. This part is the most calculation- and reasoning-intensive part of the paper. Numerical, conceptual and diagram-based questions are solved on topics like electricity, resistance, magnetic effects and refraction. This section requires sound formula application and conceptual clarity.
The overall difficulty was moderate. 75–80% of the paper was directly NCERT-based. The overall scoring potential is quite high for students who have prepared well from NCERT and have practised numericals regularly.

Thoroughly prioritise NCERT:
Read every line of the NCERT textbook.
Emphasise definitions, diagrams, examples, and activities.
Most of the theory questions asked are from the NCERT.
Make concise notes for formulas, reactions, definitions, and important concepts. Use separate sheets for physics formulas and chemistry reactions.
Regularly practise drawing diagrams such as the human eye, ray diagrams for mirrors and lenses, electric circuits and the reproductive system. Clearly and accurately label diagrams.
Focus on application-oriented and case-study questions. Practise “why”, “how”, and real-life application questions.
Learn derivations of formulas, unit conversions and master numericals in physics.
Learn reaction patterns in chemistry rather than plain memorisation. Review equations every day to memorise them.
Write answers in points to strengthen biology theory answers. Use scientific terms as given in NCERT. Write comparison-based questions in tables.
Practice previous year question papers and sample papers in 3-hour conditions to understand answer writing patterns and increase speed and accuracy.
