CBSE Class 10 Second Board Social Science Exam Question Paper Analysis 2026

The paper was well structured and focused on conceptual understanding, analytical thinking and application-based learning instead of rote memorisation. The question paper contained a good mix of MCQs, assertion-reason, source-based, map-based and long-answer questions.

The History section was moderate in difficulty and moderately scoring. This section was concept-based, and it included topics like nationalism in Europe, Gandhian movements and print culture. The questions tested chronology, interpretation of symbols, source analysis and understanding of concepts. The long-answer questions should be properly explained and written analytically and not by rote learning. Good NCERT preparation can fetch good scores for students.

The Geography section was easy to moderate in difficulty level and highly scoring. This section included questions related to resources, industries, agriculture, dams, minerals and map work. Most of the questions were direct and NCERT-based with few conceptual assertion-reason type questions. For students who practised regularly, the map-based questions were easy. Overall the section was balanced and application-orientated.

The difficulty level of the Political Science section was easy, and hence it was high-scoring. The current section was on democracy, federalism, power sharing, political parties and gender equality. Most of the questions were directly from NCERT and were conceptual questions. They required conceptual clarity rather than lengthy explanations. Students who were well-prepared found the section predictable and manageable.

The Economics section was moderately difficult and moderately scoring as well. This section explored conceptual clarity and understanding based on application through topics such as development, sectors of the economy, sustainable development, credit systems and globalisation. Questions on GDP calculation, assertion-reason and analytical explanations required logical thinking and proper understanding of concepts. The section was mainly NCERT and competency-based.

The paper was moderately difficult. The paper was mostly from NCERT and was as per the latest pattern of CBSE. The overall scoring potential was high for the students who had studied NCERT thoroughly, practised map work and had good answer-writing skills.
