ICSE Class 10 Grading System & Marking Scheme 2026 – Subject-Wise Evaluation
The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations has determined the ICSE grading system and marking scheme for Class 10. The CISCE Board uses a 9-point scale where students have to get a minimum grade of 7 to pass the ICSE 10th exam. The board further uses different assessments for internal and external exams. The highest ICSE grade point for external assessment stands at 1, and the lowest at 9. If a student scores 8 or 9 points, he or she is considered to have failed. For the ICSE internal assessment, the board uses a letter-grading system from A to E, where “A” signifies the highest and “E” represents the lowest and is considered a failing grade. Students must at least score a minimum of 35 marks out of 100 in each subject to pass the ICSE Class 10 exam or score at least 33% aggregate or overall.

ICSE Making Scheme: Group-Wise
The CISCE board has divided the ICSE Class 10 subjects into 3 groups, where students will have to follow the rules. Group I is compulsory, and students will have to attempt all the subjects, whereas Group II subjects are optional and candidates can choose at least 2 or 3 subjects as per their preference. From Group III subjects, students can select any 1 or 2 subjects from either Section A or B. Note: Students are advised to score at least 35 out of 100 in each subject to pass the ICSE 10th. They can use the ICSE grading system to calculate their percentage and ICSE 10th results. Candidates who do not obtain the minimum passing marks in the ICSE examination are required to take compartment exams.
