The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is responsible for conducting the NIOS 10th exam 2026. Each year, the board conducts the exam twice, in April and in October. Students appearing for the exam must score the minimum passing marks, i.e., 33% to qualify for the examination. They must score the NIOS 10th passing marks in aggregate and each subject separately. NIOS 10th Subjects 2026

The NIOS board offers various subjects for 10th class students. The NIOS 10th subjects are grouped into two parts, Group A (language subjects) and Group B. Below, we have listed the subject names for students' reference.

Group A (language): English, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali, Telugu, Gujarati, Kannada, Punjabi, Nepali, Assamese, Marathi, Sanskrit, Malayalam, Odia, Arabic, Persian and Tamil
Group B: Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Science, Economics, Business Studies, Home Science, Data Entry Operations, Psychology, Indian Culture and Heritage, Accountancy, Painting and Data Entry Operations.

Note: (To pass the examination, students must score 33% or more in at least one language or utmost two language subjects.)

NIOS 10th Pass Certificate Criteria 2026

To get the NIOS 10th pass certificate, students must pass in the required number of subjects.

  • They must score 33% marks in aggregate, including theory and practical paper (if applicable).

  • They must pass in 5 subjects.

  • They must score passing marks in at least one language subject but not more than two languages.

What if a Student Fails to Score Pass Marks in NIOS 10th Exam 2026?

  • Students must score at least 33% marks in each subject separately and aggregate to pass the 10th NIOS examination 2026. If they fail to score the pass mark, they will be marked as “Not Passed” in that particular subject.

  • If a student fails to score the passing marks in the NIOS 10th exam 2026, they can reappear in the next NIOS exam.

  • The board gives them the opportunity to reappear in the NIOS exam for at least 5 years from the time of NIOS registration. Within those years, students can appear in the exam as many times as they want.
