Meaning of RT, RW, RL & Others Abbreviations in CBSE Result Marksheet 2025

The CBSE 10th, 12th provisional marksheet includes certain abbreviations that may confuse students. The table below provides the complete forms of the abbreviations mentioned on the scorecard.

CBSE 10th, 12th Result Abbreviations & Meaning

RT (Repeat Theory)

This abbreviation indicates that students need to reappear for the theory exam in a particular subject. It usually means they haven't secured the minimum passing marks in the theory portion of that subject.

RW (Results Withheld)

This signifies that the CBSE board is withholding results for a particular reason. It could be due to various factors like verification of marks, administrative reasons, or malpractice investigations. Students should contact their school for clarification on the reason and the process for getting their results released.

RL (Result Later)

Introduced in 2020, this abbreviation is used when a student's marksheet is missing information or there's an error. In such cases, the result might be declared later, and the candidate should reach out to the school for updates.

Comp (Compartment)

This refers to a student who has failed in a maximum of one subject. Such students can appear for a compartment exam specifically for that subject to pass Class 10 or 12.

ABST (Absent)

This indicates that the candidate was absent for the exam in a particular subject.

NE (Not Eligible)

This signifies that they weren't eligible to appear for the exam in a particular subject, possibly due to not meeting specific criteria.

UFM (Unfair Means)

SJD (Subjudice)
